MEMORIAL PLATES
From The Lusk Herald, May 30, 1913:
“Friday, May 30, will long be remembered by the Catholic of Lusk and vicinity, the date being the dedication of their beautiful little chapel. The services began at nine o’clock in the morning and closed after eleven, the order of the ceremonies being the blessing of the church building, High Mass and Confirmation.
“Bishop McGovern, of Cheyenne was present as were also Fathers Bryant of Casper and James and Dominick of Douglas. At the conclusion of the solemn ceremony of dedication, Father Dominick said High Mass, while a quartet, composed of Misses Elizabeth and Pauline Bruch and Messrs. Geo. Penoski and Albert Bruch, sang mass. Messrs. Lyman and Penoski sang the offertory and Miss Alice Fowler presided at the organ. Mr. Lyman also rendered an “Ave Verurn” in his matchless tenor.
“The Bishop preached a fine sermon and the following members were confirmed: Mes-dames Kowalski and Cummisky and Miss Adele Fisher, Mrs. D. E. Goddard acting as sponsor.
“Bishop McGovern and Father Dominick were the house guests while here of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Arnold and Fathers Bryant and James were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Goddard. Father Dominick left Friday for Douglas while the others did not go until Saturday, all of them going to take part in the ceremony of the dedication of the Douglas Church Sunday.
“Among those from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. John Pfister and their daughters, Mrs. Albert Olinger and Miss Ella Pfister, Mesdames Fisher and Cummisky, the A. Bruch family and Tom Pfister.”
Thursday, May 30, 1963, a Solemn Anniversary Mass will be sung in St. Leo’s Church at 8:00 a.m. Father Cornelius O’Connor will be the celebrant with Father Michael McBrien and Father Terrance McGovern assisting.
This Mass will be followed by a social hour in the parish hall and a short program will be presented by the long time parishioners.
