The Enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
The Feast of the Sacred Heart, July 1:
Bishop Etienne is inviting every parish and home to unite with him in enthroning the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This enthroning is essential to the bishop's pastoral plan that is focused on drawing more families into an active role in their parish and promoting a strong Christ-centered atmosphere where vocations will flourish.
The reason for the enthronement:
The enthronement of the Sacred Heart is an external recognition of the loving kingship of the Heart of Jesus in the parish and in the Christian home. The parish and family show this recognition by giving the image of the Sacred Heart a place of honor and dedicating themselves to Him by an act of consecration. So the parish and family will be in a special way under the patronage and protection of the Divine Heart.
Uniting the family and the parish:
The Enthronement creates an intimate relationship between the church and the home. Parishioners are encouraged to enthrone an image in their own home in imitation of the image in the parish. The result is a greater love for Christ in the parish, especially in the Eucharist. It also creates a close relationship between priests and families. The Enthronement is therefore a powerful aid to the pastor to draw people more actively into parish life.
When will this take place?:
The ceremony will take place on July 1, which is the Feast of the Sacred Heart. The Bishop will have an enthronement ceremony at the Cathedral that day and encourages all parishes or missions to have the same ceremony. Families can also have a simplified version of the ceremony at home.
