The 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit

We can use the virtue of faith by making an act of faith. But to use this virtue constantly, being aware of God's presence in us and about us at all times, is more that we can do ourselves unless the Holy Spirit does it in us.

Wisdom - The gift enables us to judge correctly concerning the things of God. God is love and the Holy Spirit gives the wisdom of love to appreciate divine things, even crosses and tribulations, and really relish them, even though at times they may be repulsive to human nature.
Understanding - This gift gives us the insight into the mysteries of faith so that we may live by them.
Counsel - Advice, the gift of the Holy Spirit through which we receive His light to guide us in practical matters.
Fortitude - This gives us a Christ like courage to love God in the face of all obstacles, even death.
Knowledge - Enables us to see God reflected in all creatures and to praise Him in them, but yet to see the nothingness of creatures in themselves so that we will desire God alone.
Piety - 1. Attracts us to reverence to God as our Father and all others as His children, our brethren.
2. A special love and devotion to God and His saints.
3. Zeal in prayer and worship.
4. Affection and gratefulness to parents, country, etc.
Fear of the Lord - Great awe and reverence for Our Lord, which keeps us from offending Him by sin.
