Tammy Skala was born in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, just outside of Pittsburgh. The military brought her father to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where she grew up. She is married to Mylon Skala.

After living in several different states due to his military career, they settled back in Cheyenne to raise their two children, daughter Tiffany and son Tyler. Her husband Mylon is Manager at the Cheyenne Country Club. Tammy enjoys reading, scrapbooking, spending time with her family and their dogs.
